CITY BAND CONCERT.
—• — A large audience attended the Wei- ■■ lmgton City Band's concert in tho Town ' Hall last evening. The concerted items by the band included Von Suppo's popular overture to "Light Cavalry," played with appropriate energy and precision; a tuneful series of variations on tho well* ■ known "Spanish Chant," the- solo work being taken by- the cornets, basses, and ■ euphoniums in turn; an inspiriting quick- ' step, "Invincible," and, by way of a finish, Mario's "Alugonta" march. The solo-' ists for tho concert were Mrs, P. Foster (soprano), whoso programme numbers, "Angels Ever Bright and Fair" (Handel), and "May Morning" (Slater), wcro sweetly sung, and Mr. R. S. Allwrigbt, whose agreeablo tenor voice was admirably suited to bis items, "When Shadows Gather" (Marshall), and ■ Behre'nd's "The Gift."
