THREE MONTHS TO RIGHT IT. ' fßj Teletraph.—Prosi Aesoclatloaj Marton, October 26. Mr. Laing Mcason, consulting engineer, states that ho has made an inspection of tho broken dam, but he intended to malto a fuller ono when tho watpr in the vicinity was dammed off. Ho had no doubt that the cause of the trouble was at a point where the old pipes had been left in to drain off tho water while the embankment was being constructed. Evory precaution was taken at the time to concrete up these pipes, but with tho pressure and subsidence the water found a small leak underneath which in turn had caused the present break. Mr. Laing Meason considered that tho necessary repairs could be carried out in about three months' time, and that the damage is not so serious as was at- first anticipated, and could bo repaired for about JEBOO.
