PRELIMINARY WORK FOR NEW SCHEME. By TcleeraDh—Press Association—Gonyrteht Sydney, October 25. Mr. Griffith, Minister for Public Works, has taken prompt action with ft view to carrying out the recommendation of Mr. Hay, the English expert, for the construction of an underground railway and a harbour bridge. A sum has been placed on the Estimates so that preliminary, work may be started as soon as Pni-lia-ment approves of the scheme. Tho Lord Mayor regards the scheme as an excellent one.
