PRACTICAL INTEREST WANTED.

WELLINGTON COLLEGES TO BE . "VISITED." Some discussion''took place at the meeting, of t(he College Governors yesterday with ragiird to the propriety, of paying occasional visits to the colleges. It. was remarked by Mr. Robert Lee and Mr. W. H. P. Barber-"that it was somewhat strange that the institutions managed by tho board, arid for which largo expenditure'was authorised annually, should never be visited. Mr. Lee had commented on the condition of a certain portion of . the ground at the Girls' College at the previous meeting of tho board, and, referring to this yesterday, said that tho required improvement would have been effected long ago had a small committee paid a regular- round of visits to the colleges. The chairman (Mr. A. de B. Brandon) pointed out that . members might find themselves in collision with tho principals if anything were done which could be interpreted as an interference with tho internal administration of the colleges.

Members dissented, from the suggestion that such visits as Woro proposed would bo in tho nature of a school' inspection, and it was agreed that a visit should bo paid next Friday afternoon nt 2 o'clock by as many members of tho board as oould make it convenient to attend.
