BOARD'S MONTHLY MEETING.

iThe monthly meeting of the Wellington .Harbour Board was. held .last night. There were; present: Messrs; It. Fletcher (chairman), C. Wi Jones, W. T.'Hildreth, Jas. Trevor, M. Cohen, A. JJaeforlane, J. G. Cobbe, M. Cohen, J. ,G. Horkness, C. E. Daniell, and P. C. Freeth. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs. J. E. Fitzgerald, E. C. Kenner, miilA. H. Hindmarsh.

Payments for the month included: ln-» terest, accounts, and wages, i£1G,282 3s. 8cl.;. progress payment on contracts, .£1925 4s. 10(1. j salaries, 15s. 10d.. ' The current account showed a credit balance of JEIB.SOO 4s. Id.; .the imprest account, ft credit' balnlice of J8123G 2s. 3d. The sum of ,£BO,OOO is on fixed deposit. The chairman reported that with regard to the Somes Island light.the .Marine De'partraent has agreed to continue to control and administer the light, as suggested by the board, debiting the board halfyearly with cost as from October 1, 1912, but will not take over the Pencarrow Low Level Light as suggested by the board. ■ It was also reported by the chairman that on the night.of Wednesday, October 9, 1912,, a fire destroyed one of the board's houses at.Queen's Terrace, Miramar. The insurance, -E/00, was promptly ..paid by the Liverpool and London and Globs Insurance Company, Ltd. s • The Wharves and Accounts Committee iccommended the board to approve plans of proposed beacon on Point Halswell in lieu of buoy, in accordance with harbourwaster's report adopted by the board in July last, and authorise the engineer to erect the beacon. To offer .no objection to the City Corporation's proposed action to obtain by legislation a five-years' extension of time in which to carry out reclamation and other works at Evans Bay under the Wellington City Reclamation and Empowering Act, 190*6. To issue a foreshore license to Jlr. T, Pratt in place of expired license for boat shed;' Evans Bay, and to affix 'seal.'to agreement.'
