SALE OF PICTURE THEATRES.
COMPANY ACQUIRES THE NEW THEATRE. Mr. Charles MacMahon, part proprietor of tho New Theatre in .Manners Street, reports that a sale of the leases of the New Theatre, Wellington, and Queen's Theatre, Queen St., Auckland, to a syndicate, which i-. now forming a cumpauy to lake over those two houses and aKo' a picture theatre now being erected in Cathedral Square, Christchurch. The New Theatre is the freehold property of Mr. Martin Kennedy, and is held on a II years' lease by .Messrs. MacMahon and Donnelly. The lease of the Queen's Theatre in Auckland is held by Mr. Joseph .MacMahon (the manager) and others. The sum of .£51)00 is said to have been paid down by the syndicate as a deposit on the purchase price. Pov the lime being the. management of tho two theatres mentioned will be as at present.
