SUAIAIARY AND FORECAST. Present indications aTe for cloudy and misty weather, squally and showery in most, parte, but heavy rain is probable . in the East Coast districts, especially of the North Island, where conditions at present are somewhat threatening. Variable winds arc to he expected with south-easterly strong to gale prevailing, tile barometer falling at present, but rising; shortly in the northern districts. Cold and showery weather has prevailed, with moderate to strong and squally southerly and easterly winds. The baromotcr has fallen to-day. D. C. BATES. Vanganui, October 23.—Heavy rain last night and this morning; showery afternoon; more rain probable. Fcilding, October 2J.—Heavy rain eet in last night, and continued till noon today. The weather is still threatening and very cold. Featherston, October 23.—Overcast and threatening; southerly wind. Qroytown. October 23.—The weather is still unsettled; cold and wet. Hastings, October 23,-Heavy rain set in last night and continued practically without intermission all day. The temperature is agreeably colder.
