MASTERTON NOTES.

(From Our Special Correspondent.! Masterton, October 11*. A number of cows in the Masterton district are reported to be suffering from mammitis in a more or less severe form. Shearing operations have commenced on somo'of the smaller stations around Masterton. The heavy southerly rain which set in to-day will suspend work on the .larger holdings. Works would visit the district early in the new year. Mr G-. Boagev. of the staff of the Masterton Post Office, who has recently been acting as relieving postmaster at Martinborough, lias been appointed to the position of postmaster at Havelock South. The second of a series of competitions fired by the Manricevillo Rifle Club on Saturday last was won by Rifleman R. F. Wilton, with a score of 90.
