A meeting of the local branch of tho New Zealand Railway Officers' Institute was held to-night to consider the Government's proposals in connection with the Classification Ameiidiiie Bill, A resolution was carried as follows: "That this meeting d.raws attention to the proposals to still further increase the salaries of the chief cleric by Ji'M, chief accountant by J!3O, and stores manager by .0150, while failing to bring Uho salaries of the lower-paid members into line with the I'ost and Telegraph scale ns recommended by the 191!
