4~ SUAIMARY AND;FORECAST. •Present indications <tre for eouth to southeasterly breezes, with cool'and changeable weather, showery at times, especially on the Eastern Coast northward ol Canterbury, but a temporary improvement may bo expected soon. The barometer will probably rise everywhere, but a westerly low-pressuro area is due to pass in the south about Friday night or Saturday morning. Moderate to strong south-westerly winds have predominated, with fair to cloudy weather, and cold and showery at timet; on the East Coast especially. The barometer has had a rising tendency. D. C. Carterton, October 22—The weather is fine and warm. A little rain fell yesterday and during the night. Masterton, October 22—A heavy southerly rain set in about noon to-day. Hastings, October 22—Bright morning; heavy rain late iu afternoon.
