Society are Juoking forward to a record gathering nr their annual show,'which is to be opened tomorrow and continued on Tliiirstlny. Dnvliig the past 12 months the society Ims put in a great deal of work in the 'direction of improving the show grounds, and they are.'confident that to-morrow will see. their efforts appreciated by both ttock-owners and Hie general public. The wlioio of tf he arrangements are now complete, and given fair weather everything points to a record galheriu;. Tho entries in ,tlic Shorthorn cattle section are verv good, including sloek from the herds of Messrs. W. ('. Buchanan, W. Howard Booth, Dulziell Bros., of Kunterville, li. 1). D. M'Lean, of ilaraekakahb, and AY. T. Williams, of Te Ante. Each ona of these well-known breeders lias several entries, and competition should be keen, especially as Sir. Williams is showing the stock with which he carried off champion honour:; at Hawko's Bay last week. In the Hereford, Polled Ai.gus, lied Devon, and fat cattle classes tnere is only ouo breeder showing in each section. Dairy cattle will be well represented, tho Ilolstein breeders showiug including Messrs. Newton King, "\V. I. Lovelock, H. Bayliss, W. 0. Bayliss, and A. J. Gullichan. JJr. Lovelock carried oil' both champion tickets at Hastings last veek. Ayrshires also form a strong section, each class being well lillcd, and the same remark applies to Jerseys. The entry of milkers is also fairly strong, whilst, the champion butter-fat competition has attracted 21 entries. In tho sheep division Konmeys, Lincolns, and Southdowns have drawn the largest entries. As usual, the ; horse- classes are , i good, but a feiv c-f the classes have not filled as they should havo done. . There will be keen competition in the produce classes also in some of the dog classes.
