Wellington tho anniversary was observed very quietly. Haps were flown from many of the public and private buildings in the city, and at 6onio of the; schools tho flag was saluted to tho 'singing of the National Anthem. The King's theatre was packed with; children yesterday i afternoon, when n special matinee, arranged on behalf o{ the Jocal branch of tho Navy League, in commemoration of Trafalgar Day, \vas| held. During the afternoon Sir Joseph Ward delivered a short speech, and «xw\ plained to them tho objects of Uio.lcngueJ Ho remarked, inter alia, that they were assombled to pay tribute to England's greatest admiral. Mr. C. W. Palmer, secretary of the local branch, rend tho following telegram from the Hon. James Allen:—"I am sure; that the loyally of the juvenile mcuibcre of the league to their own country i>nd to tho greater organisation of which it is a, part will increase ne the years ro by, and I express to them tho hope that we may be tho means of maintaining peace ia the world." His Worship tho Mayor (Mr. D. M'Liiren), in his capacity as president o( the Wellington, branch of the Navy league, in company with Mr. C. W* Palmer, visited several plncc.s of amusement hi the evening.
