DEMAND WELL MAINTAINKD. Tho demand for most linos offered »t tho Blair and Alien Streets markets during tho week has been well maintained, and'owing to the small .shipment which arrived by the Sydney steamer, prices for oranges, lemons, pines, mandarins, elc., advanced considerably. The Mildura lemons which came to hand from Melbourne we.-o in rather bad order. The Melbourne)steamer also lauded a lew cases of Tasnuminn apples, which met with a better demand than was tliu case last week. Vegetables continue ou the short side, and good values resulted for prime offerings. As a result of tho heavy demand in Australia, tho potato market has advanced during tho week. Eggs also have advanced slightly, and the market appears to bo firm. The prices ruling yesterday were: Sydney oranges, 15s. to 17s. per case; Sydney lemons, 12s. Gd. to 176. 6d. case; pineapples, 20s. to 2is. rass; passion fruit, Bs. to Ms. per quarter-case, according to condition; Tasmanian apples (choice dessert), 10s. to lis. Gd. per case; hothouse tomatoes, Is. Id. to Is. 6d. per lb.; cucumbers, is. 6d. to 9s. per dozen; French beans, BSd. to 9d. per lb.; asparagus, sd. to Is. 3d. per bundle, according to size; goosetorries, (id. per lb. Vegetable prices were:—Choice cabbage, 9d. to 14s. per sack; others, 5?. to 7s. Gd.; choice cauliflowers, 10s. to 10s. Gd. per sack, others 7s. to 95.; carrots, Gs. to Ss. per sack; jorsnips, 9s. to 10s. per sack; beetroot, 9s. to 10s. per.'Sack; swede turnips, 7s. to Ss. Gd. per sack; white turnips, Ss. 6d. to 4s. Gd. per sack; green peas, Is. 9d. to 2s. per peck; rhubarb, Is. to &s. per dozen; choice lettuce, 7s. Gd. to 9s. per case, others 2s. Gd. to 45.; old potatoes, .£9 to JiS 10s. per ton; liew potatoes, 3d. to -Id. per lb.; American onions, lis. to. 15s. per case; eggs, lid. to Is. per dozen.
