FRAUDS ON A BANK.
FORGERY OF LORD ROBERTS'S SIGNATURE.

London, October 17. Towards the end of last month an attempt was made to obtain ,£1750 from Cox's Bank by the forging of Lord Roberts's signature. The attempt, however, was frustrated. The police havo now arrested a man named Powys, described as a financier, and Burke, a music-hall artist, and charged them with the forgery.
The police found that tins containing bird-lime had been used in letter-boxes, and say they havo evidence of tho theft of share certificates valued at £1500, and some cheques for .£7OOO a-piece. '
