PROPOSED TO EXCLUDE LAND QUESTION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. October 17, 10.5 p.m.) London, October 17. Mr. Eirrell, Chief Sccretaary for Ireland, in speaking in the House of Commons on tho Homo Rule Bill, declared that tho completion of the Irish land purchase scheme was more important than Home Rule. Two-thirds of the task had already been accomplished.

Mr. John Redmond, Leader of the Nationalist part}', contested Mr. Birrell's statement.

Mr. W. O'Brien (Independent Nationalist) moved on amendment to the Home Rule Bill to omit land purchase from the Irish Parliament's purview, and also to prevent the Irish Parliament during the first three years of its existence from legislating in connection with land except as to purchases for railways and publio works. The amendment was negatived.
