T!ie big collier Waihora is echednled to leave Wellihg-ton for Sydney at noon on Friday. The veseel will be docked at the New South Wales port, before proceeding to Newcastle to load for the East. Mr. S. K. Saint, late of the Monowai, has relieved Mr. S. B. Page as second officer of the Corinna. Mr. C. J. Styche, second engineer of the Kowhal, has come ashore, and My. L. Dawson has filled the vacancy. Captain Robertson, late of the Union Company's service, arrived in Wellington by the Mocrakl yesterday. The Marine Department haa received advice stating that the Dart Rock buoy, in Tennyeon's Inlet, has been washed away. The Shaw-Savfll steamer Pakehn. is expected to leave Auckland in continuation of her journey from London to Wellington to-morrow evening. This makes the vessel due here on Sunday next. She has 460 tons of carrjD to discharge before proceeding south to complete. The keel blocks in the new dock at Port Chalmers were being relaid on Monday afternoon to suit the Waltrante, which is going to have her bottom renewed. The Karamu, which was discharging a cargo of coal at Wanganui, will load timber this week for Sydney. Many years ago Wanganui mas one of the ports of call for intercolonial steameni, but for some time past it has had to rely upon coastal transhipments. Latterly, however, the trade of the port has increased considerably, anil onre more ranks as a port for loading and discharge of fairly larg? caruo stoamers from Australian ports. This Uμ been effected by the expenditure of large sums of money in harbour improvements, through which Wanganui aspires to become the principal port on the West Coast of the North Island., The Government steamer Hincmoa worked Stephen Iclnnd yesterday, but could not work The Brothers on account of tlie weather. She will return to the latter place to-day. Mr. A. S. Fenton, lnl« third offlc-r of the Karamu, has retired from the Union Company's service.
