VETERANS' HOME.

The annual general meeting of the Board of Governors of the Veterans' Home was held in tho Cabinet room, Government Buildings, at 10.15 a.m. yesterday. His Excellency tho Governor presided. . The annual report apd balance-sheet for the year ended June '30, 11112, were read and adopted, also tho report of the superintendent and tho balaince-sheet of the homo were received and read. The capital fund has during the past year increased torn <£90 tO to c£9tto, and the receipts'from donations, subscriptions, and military collections have increased from JEIB2 to ,£237. Forty-two veterans are now being maintained in the home. The average number of resident veterans for the year has been fortv, being an increase of two upon last years average. There are seven of the original members of tho home remaining. Various improvements have been.made to the building during the "past year. Amongst the veterans is one that fought at the Siege of Acre, 1840, and was wounded through the body at the Gate Pa, in tho Maori War. There is also a. resident, a Crimean veteran, who was in the Heavy Brigade, and was wounded at Balaclava.' His Excellency the Governor was reelected president; the Hon. Edwin Mitchelson was re-elected hon. treasurer; Colonel Collins, C.M.G., was re-elected boil secretary; the Hon. tho Primo Minister (Mr. Massey) and Mr. Alfred Kidd, of Auckland, were elected to the Board of Governors.

hearty vote of thanks was accorded to tho Hon. E. Mitchelson and the Auckland committee, also to the chaplains, medical and dental officials, auditor and legal advisor, who have given their services gratuitously for the benefit of the institution.

The meeting closed with the usual vote of thanks to the chair.
