FINE JUVENILE CHOIR.
WESLEY -CHURCH ANNIVERSARY,
Ono of the events of the year is the children's annual choral festival at tho Wesley Church, Taranaki Street, on the occasion of the anniversary services, which arc held in connection with .the Sunday School. The idea originally'carricd out of augmenting the choir singing by trained children from the Sunday School has, during the years that have passed since tho services first became a notable function in the church, developed under Mr. F. Billman's enthusiasm as a conductor to a choral festival of importance, and in late years, with the successful performance of well-known choruses from the classic oratorios, Mr. Billman's juvenile choir has'achieved more than a local reputation. Yesterday was the seventy-first anniversary of the Sunday School, and, as usual, tho feature of the three colnmemorativo services which were held was tho singing of tho children. The works attempted this year were the celebrated "Gloria' in Excoisis" and HandeJa immortal "Hallelujah Chorus," and the manner in which Mr. Billman's choir performed was a great credit to their training. Large congresitions attended all threo services, and at the evening servico hundreds of- people wero unable to gain admittance. The morning servico was conducted kv tho Rev. G. S. Cook; tho Rev. R. Inglis conducted tho nftcrnoon servico; whilo the Rev. J. G.' Chapman, minister of tho church, preached at the evening service. Mr. W. J. Harland presided at tho organ.
