SMOKE CQNCEET.

The annual smoke concert in connection with the Petone Football Club was held in the Drill Hall on Saturday evening. Mr. A. Coles, president of the club, occupied the chair, and there was ah attendance of about 250, including representatives from the Wellington Bugby Union, Referees' Association, and all the Wellington clubs. •The chairman, in presenting the cup to tho junior team, congratulated /them on their success, and said that his offer to i n j°i° " le '°' gymnasium (ioO) had been made good by the excellent performance of the juniors, and he had very great pleasure in handing over to tho secretary a. cheque for ,£SO. (Loud applause.) Slembers of (lie junior team also received a gold medal each, and a certificate from tho Wellington Rugby Union. Messrs. Taylor and Palmer, who have bwn gensrous in tho matter of donations, were each made the recipient of a framed photograph of the junior' fifteen. The chief toasts were: "Wellington •Rugby Union." proposed by Mr. Davis and responded to by Messrs. Burns and Wilson; "Petono Pootball Club," proposed by Mr. Weir and responded to by Messrs. I'raser and Hardham; "Opponents and Champion Teams," proposed by Mr. LynsZcev and responded to by Messrs. Madden (Athletic),, Gillespie (Oriental), and Taylor (Melrose)"The Referees," proposed by Mr. W. King and responded to by Messrs. Simpson and Brocklebank. Tho toast list was punctuated with items given by Messrs. T. M. Wilford, Curtis, Mooiicv, Miller. Dalahunty, W. Ryan, and Corson. Special medals were presented to ]•'. Ryan 'best forward in tne junior team), •I. Price (best-trained senior), S. MTurlane (most useful man in senior team), A. Miller (best forward in the Fifth Chs> team), and O. Donnelly (ho.st back in llio Fifth Class team).
