: Inquiries made at the Blair and Allen Sweet markets elicited the information that this week's consignment of fruit from Sydney was very small compared with the previous,.: week's-"shipment, 'and prices were accordingly .high. The Melbourne Wat is late, this week, but only a'small shipment is expected by her. The Fiji •steamer arrived yesterday with the regular supply of bananas, all -linos being Bold to a good demand. Some 14,000 cases of apples jweroi landed for Wellington by the San Francisco, steamer, which yessel also brought a'quantity of oranges and ■Jbananas from the Cook Islands. . Vegetablos; are not in heavy supply, Inost choico lines realising good prices. The ruling prices yesterday were:— Sydney oranges, 9s. to 12s. Gd. per case; choice mandarins, 11s. to 15s. case; others, 7s. to Bs. Gd.; Queen pines, 18s. to 20s. case; Sydney lemons, 16s. to 19s.' case; passion fruit, ss. to 7s. quarter case; loquats, 4s. to' ss. quarter case; Fiji bananas, 9s. to Us. case; Tonga bananas, 103. to 13s. case; Island oranges, ss.- to J3s. case, according to condition;' Ameri- , ican apples, 13s. case; choice ''dessert apples, 9s. to 11s. case; best local apples, 7s. to Bs. 6d. case. '
