BRITAIN AND ARBITRATION,

London, October 11. Sir Edward Grer, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, in reply to a question in the House of Commons, said that after the passngo of the Panama Canal Bill Great Britain informed the United States that if eventually the differences respecting the interpretation of the Hay-Paunce-fote Treaty were found to be impossible of settlement, the British Government would ask for arbitration. The whole subject was now Tinder the Government's consideration.
