In view of the tightness of the Euglish money market, the Government has inquired on the Continent, and specially in Paris, as to the probability of successfully floating a debenture loan, and has met with sufficient encouragement to induco it to try a foreign, loan.

Definite information was received recently that three millions from foreign sources would bo available almost immediately, and that the rate of interest would probably bo •! per cent. Meanwhile war has begun, but it is understood the Goyerntnsnt has received a reassurance that the money will still be forthcoming.
