HAWKE'S BAY SHOW.

HEAVY' EXTIUES. 'Xlie entries for 'the HawkcV Uav'Agricullural and .t'asiuial Swiciy's "spring show are now all in, mid though tliev are not n record tor tno society, 'they "have been beaten only in one year, mid tliul «'!ii lust year. In tho cuttle classes tho entries constitute 11 record. It is a significant laet as showing how the entries in the cattle section have increased by leaps and hounds, that, this will he the third time iti tour years that the society has had to increase the accommodation for cattle. The increase has been general throughout the entile section, but .il. is a gratifying feature that the, greatest increase has taken place in the purebred dairy cattle and milking cattle for it. is an indication ' that llawfcc s Bay farmers are taking a greater interest in this very profitable branch of tanning.. . , ■ The entries in the horso classes are also large, mid tho show of draughts will probably be.the best yet seen ou this so-' ciciys show ground, which is saying a lot. In the light-horso classes, too, the outside entries are exceptionally good, and the same remark will apply to the competition, which, as usual, will be one of the main features of. the show. Entries for the sheep-shearing and woolclassing competitions close with the secretary on the ground. Siieep are not so •numerous as last year, but all the leading .breeders - are represented in the several .breeds, and in point of quality at least the show should equal those which have .preceded it. The entries in the kennel and poultry sections are very large, anil so are the entries of produceand general .exhibits, while in the ladies" needlework section the display is likely to be better than ever before. The side-shows will occupy every available inch of ground which con be spared for them, so there can be no doubt that the Hawke's Bav Show of 1912 will compare favourably with the best of past years, and will attract, as this show always has done, a very large' number of outside visitors. |
