- i ■ : A NEW .SYSTEM; On the recommendation of Mr. Herberi Baillio (of tho Wellington Free Publio Library), the' Post and Telegraph Department has instituted a system that enables Ijooks to be posted to subscribers from any freo public library at tho rate of Id. per lb. (or fraction of a pound). The idea, at present is only an experiment, and for thai- reason only extends to tho AVcllington district, in which there are. thirty-five public libraries. As tho average weight of a modern novel is only a pound, the innovation, it is believed, will be welcomed by many,' particularly residents in the country.
