Bell, M.l\ Professor-.: hasterfield said that the: deputation represented the various bodies which sympathised with the idee that professorial representation was absolutely necessary in the life of any college upon its governing body. They congratulated the Minister 011 giving direct representation to the Professorial Board on the"Auckland■ College Council; the" arguments'-were so si rung in that respect that he did not feel he need press that point. The deputation felt that it was absolutely necessary that I hey should press for a similar Hill being brought down 011 behalf of Victoria College. The Minister replied that he was in entire sympathy with the de-ires of the.deputation, bill at Ibis period of (lie session he did not think such a measure could be gut through this year, hi regard to the Auckland Bill, there was unanimity on the council, but (lint stale of things- did not exist in connection with, the Victoria College Council.' If the-deputation could convert the Victoria College Council to its views, it would make the task of jmtling the Bill through very much easier.
