HAWERA SPRING SHOW.
A SPLENDID PRIZE-LIST. The twenty-ninth annual show of the " -Egmont A. and V. Association will be held , at, Hawenj. -on November 20 and 21, and .judging by the schedule which hasjjust bMi'i issued,--tho .exhibition should be'one S of the most attractive that has been- held , in the.-Tarana.ki dUtrict. -Besides ■ tho ; trophies, medals, etc., a sum of .£I3OO will j ;be a-va.ilablo.-in prize-money. Each year 'sees some change'in the association's "pro- [ gramme, tending to make, the show more popular with both exhibitor and the pub- ! ■ He. In .cattle -the principal altractiDh. ' will be the competition for the championship gold medals allotted by the N".Z. Jer- . scy- and' Ayrshire Breeders' Associations. In these • sections extra classes for dry .cows-have-been inserted, to enable exhibitors from a-disfajice to make up their' trucks, Classes forgTade Holsteins have been.put in, owing, to the favour the breed is meeting with in the district. The association has made an important Jilove in tho. direction of dairy classes, having imposed a condition, that all cows - are to bo - milked out the night before judging;.in the presence of stewards or someone appointed by the society. Then, again, additional prize-money is offered for the cows showing most points in milkvessel. 'The butter-fat competition will again be a prominent feature of the show... | additional classes have been added to tho fat-sheep classes; namely, for best qfu'ality,' three -fat wetheTs and threo fat ewes. A silver-challenge cup-is competed fo.r-as a points prize, and big.entries are anticipated in these classes. " In addition 'to the championship prizes Cor entire and' marc 'draught horses, a silVeY challenge cup'is offered'as a.points prize: A'.novel class will bo-the one for four-horse teams in work, -the turn-out to be taken into consideration. 'In-hacks,' the association offers a gold medal and tibbon to the best hack and best, harness horse will also carry a ribbon. The pony classes are well varied. • The ring competitions are always very popular, and the open hunting competition on the first day carries for the ; first prize-money, and a challenge cup. The steeplechase event on the second day carries £15 as first prize money. T.he dairy produce classes are well endowed with prizes as usual. : The dog schedule, the home industries, etc:, have received' extra attention, quite a number of.new classes having been added. ~
