THE IRON INDUSTRY.
Sir,—As oho having recently arrived from Manchester, ami desirous o'f making Xew Zealand my future home, I very naturally i'col extremely interested after perusing various arlicles'on the "Iron'lndustry." In this morning's Dominion I find a letter printed which very erroneously opposes support being given to the commencement of the industry. Being personally acquainted with the iron workers of Lancashire, Durham, and Yorkshire (also their conditions), I know that, thero are hundreds of skilled men who would be only too pleased to eomo along to Kew Zealand. Therefore, 1 assert, in aft sineerily, that the sooner the Government accepts the proposal, viz., establishment of the iron industry, so much the sooner will the services of these men, their families, and their small capital bo secured to this country. Tho 5 per cent, is infinitesimal compared to the great advantages which, the Domiuion would derive.—l am, ctc„ MANCUNIUM. October 5.
