(By TelcffrapU.-Prcss Association.) i Dunedin, October 7, A largo and enthusiastic meeting of railway officers was held to-night, to hear a report by delegates who recently waited on the Minister for Railways with regard to carrying out the findings of tho RailWay Parliamentary Committee, which reported favourably on the petition of railway offioers, presented to Parliament last year. A resolution was carried unanimously deploring the action of the Goveminent in refusing to give full effect to the recommendations of tho Railway Committee, and regarding such action as a distinct broach of faith, inasmuch as members of tho Government, and of the Reform Party generally had given definito assurance that the recommendations would be carried out in their entirety; also deploring that, while the Government wero granting concessions in various directions, costing many thousands per annum, the claims of railway officers were being ignored. . Another resolution endorsed the action of.the'executive in advising the Minister that the proposals made by him to the executive wore so much below the findings of the Railway Committer and of the scale of salaries in the Public Service Act for other branches Of the Government service that they were totally inadequate. The resolution also expressed the opinion that the dissatisfaction in the first division would be intensified by tho attitude of the Ministor. , ' It was decided to urge the executive .to continue to press for conditions of pay. leave, etc., equal to those in the Post ntid Telegraph Department, and other branches bf tho Public Service. .
