VIOLENT GALE IN OTAGO.
HOOFS BLOWN OFF. '3y Tsleetaph.'-Prnf H«in»taUon.l Dunedin, October 7. • A violent gale was experienced in various parts of Central Otago on Saturday night. A steamer en route from Kingston to Quconstown had to shelter in one of tho bays, and did not reach the latter place till nearly midnight. At Arrow-town roofs vrero blown off outhouses, and in one case a verandah was blown over. Heavy rain fell on Sunday, and the Molvneaux River rose considerably. It washed away a portion of the Maiu Sold at Miller's Flat.
