BOYS' INSTITUTE.

Mr. T. Button, M.r., was tho speaker at the. Boys' Institute in Arthur Street last evening. He sjioke on the subject of ''Moderation" in relation to tho activities and desires of boys. He referred to sports and amusements, and showed tho danger of excess and the wisdom of" a proper participation in them when other duties were regarded. Ho advised tho boys to abjure alcohol in any form whatever and warned them against cignrettesmoking and gambling, even in small sums. As regarded the keeping of Sunday, he said that that day was now no longer observed with a false piety as was once the ca?e, but he felt sure that people were going to the other extreme, and were failing to observe the day in the proper spirit at all. He thought lhat the giving up of one day in seven to the worship of God was not very much to ask, and he urged tho boys to consider Sunday as a special day for the worship of God. In concluding his remarks Mr. Buxtou advised them to read pure literature, to take good advice, and never,to choose a doubtful course of action when a safe one presented itself. The address was illustrated, and was listened to with interest by an audience whicli numbered forty. The thanks of the meeting were extended to Mr. Buxton.
