Mr. E. Clifton, director of tho Fields and Experiment Farms under, the Agricultural .Department, reports on hemp and tow graded nt New Zealand ports during September,:— ■ Hemp: The total number of bales ''graded was G80.1; as compared with C5lO for tho .corresponding months of last year, an: inerea.se of 353 hales. For the twelve, months ending September 30, 11)12, tho number of bale?-graded was 91,519, as compared with 97,427 for the previous twelve month?, the decrease being 59118' bales. Tow: During the month 1911 bales wero dealt with, as compared with 1519 for the corresponding month of last year, an increase'of 362 bales. Tor the twelve months ending September 30, 1912, the number of bales graded wan 2.5,750 as against 29,142 for the previous twelve: months, the-decrease, beinj; 3692 bales. • HEMr GRADED.
