METHODIST CHURCH.

The circuit quarterly meeting of th* Board.of Management of Taranaki Street Methodist Church was held on Friday evening, the Rev. J. Gγ, Chapman presiding. The Circuit Stewnrds presented an encouraging financial report. Alter putting aside a certain amount for a specific object, a sum of nearly .£3O was curried forward to the new quarter. The reporle and balance-sheets of tho Tory aud Aro Street Churches also both show a credit balance and idicate that the deaconesses aer doing very useful work in their respective districts. The membership returns showed 528 adult and 00 juniors. There aro upwards of 900 scholars on tho rolls of the Sunday 6chools. It was decided to vote a sum of money towards the funds of the Sunday School Union.

Jlr. W. H. Bennett, in his report as Sunday. School visitor, stressed the need for more accommodation in the suburban schools. It is hoped that by a tale of work in December the sum of JtliO will be forthcoming to assist in paying oft the cost of ;v new infant class-room at the Aro Street. Mission. ' Appreciative reference was made to the work of the ]?ev. .1. G. Chapman, and a unanimous and hearty invitation was extended him to remain for another year as 'superintendent minister of Taranaki Street Church. Jlr. Chapman accepted, provided the conference approved. Tho Hev. J. K. Clark was heartily thanked for his ministry of five years in the circuit, ami appreciative mention was made of his work at Karori ami Brooklyn.' Messrs. Ctriltin and G. Williams were floftccl substitute representatives to the District Synod at Dannevirke nest month. Tho meeting adjourned for a few days. There will shortly bo a joint meeting of the officials of tlie Jlethmlift and Prnnitivo Methodist Churches, to consider nutters in connection with the coming union of tho churches.
