CI ub u-usi hold in the association's rooms, ->lr. tr. M'Kay presiding. in the report it was stated that tho club had had a fairly successful season, lliey had entered only one team in the junior grade, playing 8 matches, winning ;; lo . s, "j\ *• ""'I e»o being unfinished. The club sincerely regret the departure to Christchurch, of Mr. P. 0. Atkinson, who had been an earnest and popular member. The hnancial position was only fair, and it was resolved to keep in view means to provide funds for upkeep. The prospects lor tho coining season were bright. The annual smoke concert of the Poneko l'ootball Club was held at Scott's Rooms, Manners Street, last evening. ]) r . A ?' e "" lflu . AI.P., presided, and later Mr". A. I'. AViren took the chair. At various periods during the evening, the speakers made reference to the professional game, which was coming into vogue, and warned players to keep to tho amateur game. The toasts honoured were: "The Poneko Club," "Wellington Rugby Union," "Old Members," "Referees' Association," I'Onr Opponents and Kindred SpovU," "Secretary and Treasurer," and "St. John Ambulance Association." Musical items were contributed by the following:—Messrs. AV. .T. Meredith, AV. Cooper, H..Potter, AV. H. Sisson, A. Griffiths, and G. C. AVarren. Mr. 11. Bowlev presided at the.piano. The trophies (presented by Mr. AV. H. Robinson) were awarded to Air. AV. Sothorim (best, all round man), and J. Culcinui (most improved forward). AVATAVETU SMOKE CONCERT. Tho annual: smoke concert in connection with.the A\'aiwetu Football Club was held at .Lower Hiitt ■ last evening, ' Mr. M.-N.-Welch occupied tho chair. Mr. G. Fprster was presented with tho medal for best all-round player in the club. A number of musical items punctuated the ' toast list. ■ SOUTH AFRICAN TOUR. THORNDON CLUB. The annual report of the Thorndon Amateur 'Swimming Club states that the swimming season of 1011-12 was not as enjoyable as it might have been, owing to the unseasonable weather. Nevertheless, the club members had many pleasant mornings and evenings together. The total amount of money spent in prizes last year was JCIS 10s. Cd., while in addition < prizes and medals were given in the I events for boys by Mr. K. Ronayne. The - AVard Cup was won by Mr. F. Roberts, < after an exciting series of races, but tho ' polo team did not have a very successful -i season. Tho club succeeded in retaining tho AValker and Hall Cup in the Flying J Squadron Championship. Tho annual ear. i nival was a success, and showed a cleai prolit of .£7 13s. -Id. The club has sus tained a severe loss in the departure from AVellington of Mr! K. Ronayne, who, boside being n very successful swimmer, had always the interest of the club at heart and was eager to work for its benefit. After rendering the club excellent service, doing especially good work in connection with the carnival, Mr. T. }I. M'Lean found himself compelled to re r < sign the secretaryship, after seeing tho < club through the most strenuous .part of tho season. Tho committee accepted his '■ resignation with great regret. Mr. H. j \Y. Harris has acted as secretary since ' Mr. M'Lean's resignation. The finances of tho club are in a very satisfactory coll- J dition, the balance-sheet showing a credit 1 balance of £i 7 10s. 6d. This amount includes an item of -C 2.105. subscriptions ( outstanding, and also an item of £1 Bs. 1 lid., being the estimated value of tho gymnasium outfit, leaving an actual bal- s ance in cash of £i\ os. 7d. LYALL BAY SURF CLUB. Tho annual meeting of the Lyall Bay , Surf Club was held at tho Y.M.C.A. ' Rooms last evening,' there being a inrgc j attendance of members. < Tho report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The balance-sheet showed : that'the club has a credit of .£24 12s. Gd.
