TOGO'S OLD SHIP SINKS.
1 HISTORIC STEAMER. A famous warship disappeared from the roll when the Japanese. cruiser Nauiwa, which was wrecked ou Broton Island, one of the Kurilo Group, on June. 26, slipped: from the rocks ou July IS, and sank to the bottom. In the Chinoso War she was commanded by Capluiu (now Admiral) Togo, The Nnniwa, which was desicucd by Sir William White, was built by tho Armstrong Company. Her displacement was 3100' tons, and she carried an armament of eight Cin. guns, two β-poundcrs. and 1-1 machine guns. In 1891, during the rupture between China and Japan, a email naval engagement was foujtlit off Asau, near Chemulpo, between two Chinese warships and a Japanese squadron, which included the Naniwa, then commanded by Captain Togo, afterwards the victor of Tsushima. On tho same day tho Nauiwa attacked and destroyed tho Kowshing, a British transport, which, wa* 1 cduveying 1100 Chine*} troops to Korea.
