Mr. Gurdon Samuel, LL.B., who has boon-for the Inst ten years on the staff of Messrs. Findlay, Dalziell, and Co., has commenced the practice of his profession as a barrister and solicitor, in offices situate in Panama Street.
Mr. B. H. Whitcombe, general manager of Whitcombo and Tombs, Ltd., has left New Zealand for London, whero the' firm has a largo buying; branch, which not only buys tor Dominion requirements, but also for a large Australian firm of booksellers. .. Mr. Whitcombe, who was Ni.ade.n., presentation, by the Wellington etaff W-' fore he sailod, will bo absent from New Zealand for four or five years. '
■ Colonel Menzios, a.. Queensland runholder, arrived from Sydney by the Manuka yesterday to connect with the Corinthic.'by which vessel he leaves for Rio do Janeiro on Friday.
Mr. Walter Tripe, secretary to the Gear Meat Company, returned yesterday from a trip to Australia'.
Mr. E. C. Kirk, who lias been, connected with hospital and charitable aid work in "Wellington for over twenty.-threo years, has, for business reasons, resigned his seat as a member of the Wellington Hospital nnd Charitable Aid Board. Ho is at present chairman of the Hospital Committee, and prior to the amalgamation of the various bodies under reoent oonsolidatinfj legislation, lie was chairman of the Wellington District Hospital Board. Mr. Kirk has been one of the most valued members of the bodies mentioned, and his sound advico and experience will bo greatly missed in the future.
■ Mr. J. D. Williams, managing director of the Greater J. D. Williams Amusement Company, Ltd., and Mr. John Williamson, solicitor, and|a director of the company, arrived .from Sydney by the Manuka yesterday.
