MASTERTON NOTES.
(From Our Special CorresDonflenU Masterton, October 1. A man named Harry Childs, in the employ of Mr. C. E. Daniell, was struck on the head by q block of timber on Monday, and sustained injuries which nec«sitated his removal to the Masterton Hospital. The Mayoress (Mrs. Coradine) is inviting the ladies of Masterton to meet her on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the question of providing shooting prizes for the Senior Cadets,' as suggested by Mrs. Godley. . . Twenty-five entries have already been received for the cley bird pigeon match, which is to be held under the auspices oi the Masterton Gun Club. As a result of representations made to the Railway Department by the Masterton Chamber of Commerce, it has been arranged (hat the up and down mail trains shall stop at Kopuaranga to taV< up and put down passengers. The trout fishing season opened to-dav The weather, however, was not favon'rable* and anglers had poor sport.
