OTTR POSITION AT HOME.
(By Telejiaph.—Special Corresnondont.) ' Christchurch, October 1. A Papanui resident now on a visit to the Old Country, writing to the "Press" from Bristol on August 3, says: "AVhen visiting the Royal Show at Doncaster I found every other colony but New Zealand represented by a large and various display of its products, and tho same with the Roval Show of Scotland. Canada, South Africa, and Australia were lavishly represented by grand displays, poor New Zealand being utterly neglected.. In fact at many of the smaller shows about the country the products of these colonies wore displayed. Is it not time that New Zealand woke up and advertised her wares on this market? Nothing would tend to advertise New Zealand more widely than a good display at these shows, aa these fixtures attract tho right sort of immigrants as well as the consumers. A couple of thousand pounds spent annually in placarding the country places would nlso materially assist by inducing farmers' sons and farm-hands to emigrate."
