JuiKOltl CLUB. Tb& ccromony of opening the Karori Bowling Club's green took place on Saturday afternoon. Despite the unfavourable weather, there was a large gathering of visitors and morn hers. The president (Mr. W. 1\ England), in declaring tho greeu' open, expressed his regret that, owing to tho wel state of the green, there could be no play. Mrs. England, then rolled the first-"loci;." The visiters and members were .entertaiued at, afternoon tea in the club'lmuo? by "the lady friends
of the : olub, and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent.

Though tho greens aro not as a general rule in the pink of condition, owing to the wet, cold spring, they aro showing a nice mat of grass, winch should serve its purpose well Enough if there is not too mncTi ploy at the beginning of tho season, when tho ground is fairly soft. The 'Wellington, Victoria, and Newtown Clubs are to open their greens for, play on Saturday next. Thorndon follows on Saturday, October 12, and Hataitai on October 19. The latter green is looking very well, except on the shady side, where the gross wonts a lititle moro sun.
