SOME INTERESTING EVIDENCE. Ho officiated at the Christmas services of the Church at Te Ore Ore, and the defendant was present at Te Ore Or© at tho time. On Christmas Day witness was attired in Maori costume, but on tho other days he was dressed in a wliits surplice witli a sash. There were distinctive marks of the Chnrch on the sash. These were the garments prescribed by the rules of the Church. lie wore them on every day that he went to church. H« knew tlie kind of gaiters that Bishop Wallis wore, and he lmd not worn gaiters like them. Ho had worn the gaiters of the Church of Jehovah, but not the ggitors of tho Anglican.Church. Ho and Anaru woro the gaiters of tho Church at tho Christmas meeting. They wero black gaiters. Some of them were made of skin, and others of cloth. They wero fastened wit.li black buttons. The coat was a frock coat. Ho did not know that ;ieoplo called him an Anglican bishop. His dress was like that of an Anglican bishop, but the Anglicans did not taunt him with it. Ho and Anaru woro tho only two persons at the Christmas meeting who Woro bishops clothing. As previously stated, the jury, alter a ' retirement of twenty-five minutes, returned a verdict of JCS for plaintiff, and judgment was entered accordingly, with costs on the lowest scale.
