There was a great crowd at the Stadium to witness the opening rounds of the .£IOOO tug-nf-war contests. In the international events, Scotland beat Ireland, and Fitznatrick's Australian team beat itnekcuburg's Australian team. In the all-comers' championship the New Zealand Drivers' Union, beat the Sawmill Employees.
