In the case in, which the owner of the pony Ladylike is claiming i£sooo from John Wren, the sports promoter, for alleged libel and detention of the pony, the action hinges on the question whether Ladylike and Truelove are two different ponies. The plaintiff says that Ladylike is not Truelove, while the defendant says she is. Donahoo, manager of the Victoria Park racecourse, gave evidence that Truelove had been dyed chestnut, that the dye had been worn off the body, but was still entile tail. Asked if he had seen horses dyed, ho said ho had seen twenty or so dyed in Sydney. He was sorry to say most of them came from Alelbonrne.
