; HAWKE'S BAY TOTJBNAMBNT; ~ (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ,' Napier, September 27. A large crowd assembled to witness the final day*splay of the Hawke's Bay tournament. The last round of the championship between B. B. Wood (Christchiirch) and Kurupo Tareha (Napior) provided-good sport for onlookers to-<]ay. It was . supposed that Wood would hold his opponent all through, but this forecast proved incorrect. He secured the lend at first, chiefly to excellent putting, but the local champion caught him at the eighth hole and finished the .first round with a lead of two. In the -afternoon ronnd Kurupo again started badly, but picked up, nnil at tho ninth hole, and also at the eleventh and fourteenth, tho players wore all squaro. Wood then got. away and in tlia end won by two up and one to ulny. Tho play was very even, the wind inter-: iering to some extent.
