FOOTBALL. "' SIXTH-CLASS FINAL. That the Rugby football .season in Wellington is drawing to a close is emphasised by the fact that only one Eugby match will bo played to-day. Tho match in question will take place at tho Athletic Park, between two sixth-class teams—Athletic and Petono. , At Miranmr to-day the semi-final in tho cadet tournament will be played, when {Technical College will meet Thonidon. CRICKET. PUBLIC SCHOOLS' REPORT. ■The. annual report'Of the Wellington Public Schools' Cricket Association, to ba presented to the annual meeting of school delegates at the Education Board office this morning, states that a '.record number' of teams took part in the senior and junior competitions last season, the total nunlber 13 senior team 9 and 8 junior, being an' increase of four on the previous season. Tho hope is expressed that those schools which have not yet put a junior team in the field will do so tliia year. The thanks, of the association "are due to tho City Council, Wellington Cricket Association, and the Wellington Rugby Union/ for providing wickets, to Messrs. Laws ahd Manning, for printing the association's reports, to Sir. Bethune for his generous donation to the funds,' to the Education Boiird for the use of the meeting-room, and, to- head- ' masters for their co-operation in arranging the games. The balance-sheet discloses a credit of lils. Id. ST/'MARK'S'CLUB. The report submitted to the annual meeting of St. Mark's Crickot Club Inst night congratulated members On the very satisfaotory position of. tho club. Special - mention was made to the success of tha junior team, which, after haying filled second position during the previous season, last year decisively won tho junior championship, thus gaining tho highest honours open to'any but a district club. The third-grado team also had a satisfactory season, winning the majority of I its i games. The . financial position of the I club was considered' eminently satisfacItory, liabilities being nil &iid assets .£l7 *ss.- Id., including a oash balance of .£6 Bs. 10d., Tho almost entiro of outstanding subscriptions was a noticeable feature of the balance-sheet. Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs. A. T.Clark, ' P. Cording, J. D. Tripe, and H. Langdon,who had presented trophies, 1 and to Mr.J. Southgate for a donation. V. Harris won tlie trophy for best all-round man, G1 Praih" for - best batting, average in junior team', and 6. C. Smith, and C. Cusack for the batting and bowling, averages in the third team.
