(Br Telccrnph.-Sticclnl Corespondent.! Mastcrton, September '-'6. In tho Supremo Court to-day, Edward Arthur Jones was found guilty of aggravated assault, and with breaking and entering. Accused, who htid previously served sentences for criminal assault, theft, and obscene language, wits ceiitenced to two years' hard labour,' with thvoo years' reforhtative treatment afterwards. A civil action was hfnrd this afternoon, in which E. Jones claimed from ,T. T. Vicknell (tho former of t'eatherston), a, sum of ,£551 wftgps, alleged to be due over a period of years. The jury returned a, verdict for ,£ISG, less payments made from time to time. Certain law points wero reserved by his Honour. Sir Robert Stint (CMef Ju.'lle-e) delivered an address in the Town Hall to-tiight on the subject of education.
