NEWMAN (Wellington East) • gavo notice •to ask the Prime Minister whether he would consider the advisability of revising tho present antiquated and cumbersome proceedings of the House, so that next session, the House might 1 adopt modern rules similar to those in . use in other Parliaments. LOANS TO LOCAL BODIES. ; Sir JOSEPH WARD (Awarua) asked i the Minister for Financo. without notice , whether he would lay before tho House next day a return showing the number of applications of local publio bodies for loans, setting out the amount applied for in each case, and those applications granted and those refused. The Hon. JAMES ALLEN (Minister for Finance), in. reply, said the return was a ' very large one, but it was in course of preparation now. If he. could get it the ' next day he would lay it on the table of the House. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. . ' Tlie Hon; W. K MASSEY (Prime Min- ; ister) gave the usual two days' notice that ■ ho proposed if necessary to carry on beyond 7.30' p.m. tho debate on his motion i relating to reform' of " the Legislative Council. This means that the. motion will not ■ bo moved before Tuesday. It ma,r, of course, be moved on any subsequent "day.
