Kiddell, S.M.), CHARGE OF ATTEMPTING TO EVADE JUSTICE. - Charles Clement Fish, who was on bail trial for the alleged theft of a set of New Zealand Consolidated Statutes, the property of the Now Zealand Government, came before the Court yesterday 5 morning, on a chargc of attempting to S evade justice. Bail was Jiot estreated,"but I lie was ordered to' pay the expenses incurred in bringing him back from Auck- ■ land. He j, pleaded guilty, and was remanded to the •, ynnreme Court for sentence. >( Frederick Jolm May was chargcd with 3 being a rogue and vagabopd and with S having, on .September 25, been found witlij out lawful excuse oil enclosed premises to wit the Convent, Sussex Square. Tho pigeons i wore valued at ,£lO. He was remanded ! till September 28. "i Fred AVhito aud Joseph Hemmings were j charged with , having, on September 21, i stolen ,a silver watch from William ] Smithman, valuod at JC2'ss. They were j remanded to the Supreme Court t'or trial, ; and bail amounting to .£2O each and .£1(1 each in two sureties was allowed. For insobriety Annio Winifred Dunn was fined 10s., in default twenty-four hours', imprisonment. AN _ OFFENSIVE DOG. Mr. W. G. Biddell, S.M., gave reserved judgment at the Magistrate's Court yesterday morning of the case in which William R. Ingram was charged with being the owner of an ..offensive dog. Taking into consideration the fact that accused had destroyed the dog, and had settled all damages, he was only ordered to pay lis. Court costs. THE LIQUOR LAW. Mr. Riddcll, S.M., also gave reserved judgment in the case in which Frederick Dobson was chargcd with selling liquor under a false trade description. On the evidence of the Government Analyst (Dr. M'Laurin), and taking into consideration the fnct that it had been proved thai the Iwttle from wliicli (he sample was taken did not contnin genuine WolllYs schnapps, n< purported, his Worship held that the defendant must be convicted and fined -C 6. ___________
