CADET MOVEMENT.
DOMINION CHALLENGE CUP. ' || The movement which has been inaugur- f ated by Mrs. (.iodley for tho stimulation [j of tho cadet movement in New Zealand i by providing speeinl shooting prizes for j tho senior cadet corps, lias been received I with encouraging interest, both north and ' south. Letters already received from the j Mayoresses in the different towns have [ shown a warm sympathy with the scheme, | and a keen readiness lo eo-operato in pro- j moting its- success. Committees have I been formed in some of the-so places, nnd the work of collecting funds begun. It is Mrs. Godley's idea to moko the movement a Dominion one, tho subscriptions which have been collected from each district being put together into one common fund, from which will be plied tho prizes to be offered to 'each corps. Not only would there be 'a'prize for the best shot, in each corps during the anntinl musketry practice (the prize [ to be held for a year when the next practice would probably result in passing it on to another boy), but also, Mrs. Godlev hopes, if Che funds allow of such provision, a Dominion Challenge Cup for the company that shoots best during this annual practice, '.['he scores of all the boys would be kept, and the corps with tho liest aggregate for all would win the Challengo Cup. Already the schemo appears to have removed quite a good deal of misconception regarding the training which boys undergo under the Defenco Act, and has created n keener interest in it on the part of the niothprs and on that of many of tho cadets themselves.
