Cut I the bread into rounds the size of a shilI ling and cut 2 large rounds to fit tho ! top and bottom of the tin (o be used. | Dip tho bread in the clarified butter and ■ place a large round at tho foot of the tin. Arrange tho small rounds in layers round the tin lining it to the top. 'Fill the centre with tho apple mixture and placo tho other large round of bread on tho lop and bake in a hot oven for i hour.
