HOSPITAL CONTROL.
MONTHLY MEETING OF THE BOARD. ' Messrs. Ja*. Trevor fcliairm'nn), Mies Richmond, the Rev. H. Van Stnveren Messrs. J. W. M'Ewan, R. C. Kirk. D. Robertson, J. Godber, F. "T. Moore. D. M'l.aren, B. 1!. Gardiner, John Smith,' 11. Fletcher. W. Galloway, and U. Baldwin wore present at the monthlv meeting of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board held yesterday afternoon. The Finance and Property Committee report cd:— (1) That the following accounts have been passed for payment:—Wellington Hospital, .£262.) Os.'JOd.; Oliir'o Home and 'charitable aid, .£157 os. 4d.: Ot.iki Hospital and Sanatorium, .jt-107 12s. Stl.j heori office and public health, .£213 10s. Id.:'total, ,£3703 3s. lid. (2) That, subject to the consent of the Minister, the sum of -£10,000 be borrowed from too Public Trustee on flat mortgage at 5, per cent, per annum to enable the board to erect mid equip an out-patients' and pathological biock in connection with the Hospital, the security being the same as that held for present loan. (3) That Miss Janet Renner has been appointed Shorthand writer and lypiste, vice Miss Cox resigned. The report was adopted. A. special committee set up to consider the establishment tf a maternity ward in connection with hospital and ' charitoble aid work reported as follows:—"Tho committee reports that after an inspectiou of tho premises of the ex-diphtheria ward, it is unanimously of opinion that the proposed arrangement for utilising the ward as a materuiny ward would bo satisfactory. In connection with providing additional accommodation for chronic patients, it was resolved that while flip Ohiro Home occupies? its present position it is im unsuitable site for chronic wards." In moving the adoption of the report, Mr. R. C. Kirk said that the old wooden building at the back of Hie Children's Hospital was considered to fco a suitable place.for conversion intc a maternity hospital. It was in the opinion of those qualified to judge inadvisable to overload tlie prevent Hospital site with anv .further buildings. In the not far distant future, it would he found necessary tn utilise the lea-aero block of land at the Hull for hospital extension.
