4 (From Oit Special OorresDondent.) Palmerston, September 20. The Palmerston Orchestral Society lifts secured tlio services of Miss ltita Lyons, of Christchurch, .and Mr. JI. Fletcher, of Wellington, to provide the vocal numbers at its concert next Tuesday. Miss Lyons is not unknown to Palmerstoniaus, as she formerly resided here with her parents. Her contributions to the programme will bo the "Jewel Song" from "Faust," and "The. Prayer" from "Tosca." The Friendly Societies of Palmerston district concluded their card tournament for the Friendly Societies' Shield last evening, the Hibernians winning over the Druids by S."i games to 23.
